Hm, only seven tigs on my last post. OMG, what am I doing wrong??

I know: I didn't reverse my normal impulse enough. Nor did I write about a question, oh dear, and possibly I left no room for dialogue. Should I even be allowed on LJ? I did, however, not use a single LJ-cut but then fell down by posting at a time that was not 8 a.m. on a weekday on the Eastern seabord of the United States of America. Possibly, though, in retrospect, I did find myself writing about something that annoyed me although now I am annoyed that I conformed to any rules and regulations at all, even inadvertently!

But then, I am also no going off to do my serious writing for cash. I do have 'serious' writing but alas, it doesn't bring in cash, and half the time I wonder which is more serious: my academic writing or my fanfic?

Yes, the academic paradox - serious writing which is entirely necessary for one's career but which might bring in just about enough for an annual packet of crisps. (Even my bemused mother has given up asking when I'm going to be 'paid' for my books.) And fic here is certainly much more appreciated - all any other academic is really saying about your latest production is 'Bitch. How'd she swing a contract with OUP without the approval of all the delegates?' Not so much as a squee.

But perhaps FlyLady could help us out with running our LJs in a proper Shiny Sink manner. Send us little early bird reminders to post something with Room For Dialogue and Issues at 8 am US Eastern Seaboard time exactly.

My publisher MUP this quarter sent me a notification of my 'royalties'; they were so low that it wasn't worth their trouble actually sending me a cheque; they're rolling the money over to the next quarter.
