Yes, I've been reading round weird other fandoms! But here are three stories that I've read over the past few weeks and liked a lot!

Ante by [livejournal.com profile] ukcalico
Ah, Calico. Nobody writes sex like her. This is Draco/Blaise and it is a delicious delight. Breezy, no- angst, lovely porn.

The air hummed as Draco got the bottle out his chest and passed it over. Blaise tilted it sceptically. "Have a nice night in on your own, did you?" he grinned, with suggestive eyebrows. "You lush."

This is from a fandom called Stargate and features a pairing called McKay/Zelenka. I had never heard of these people but this fic made this my instant OTP. I mean, look at these guys:

left: McKay; right: Zelenka

This story has fabulous dialogue, no-nonsense, no-angst sex, men who can talk about sex in a no-nonsense way, men who are physicists, and it's just a cracker. I've read it three times now. *g*

"Okay," Rodney said, and leaned over and kissed him, just briefly, a whisper of contact. "Was that a surprise?"

"Yes," Zelenka said, a little crossly.

"Ha!" Rodney said. "That's it! We only think we understand each other!"

"Don't be so stupid." Zelenka sat up and glared at him. "You didn't say first that you were going to kiss me. You proved nothing."

"Oh," Rodney said.

"Very well," Zelenka said, looking very disgruntled. "I will kiss you now."

Duty by Pat Jacquerie.
The woman who wrote this has sadly died which is a strange thing in the online world and leaves one bereft of feedback possibilities. Her story is from a fandom called Blake's 7 and features two men called Tarrant and Avon. It is full, and I say full, of sexual tension and sex and emotional knots and embarrassed-making situations of hot, hot fucking. Quite science-fictiony and mucho angsty and sort of a bit claustrophobic but slashy as hell and a little old-fashioned, like ye-olde-days of Spock/Kirk. It also has a come-down ending which spun me into dismay but the story is still worth it.

Tarrant held his breath during long moment of silence that followed, realizing...realizing...

"No." Avon's voice held no inflection. "I see no alternative."

...Realizing he wanted this. Despite his doubts on how it would effect their already touchy relationship. Had, perhaps, wanted it for a very long time indeed, a desire hidden under antagonism and denial, layer after layer of barbed-wire words surrounding a thorny patch of truth. But he had never wanted a man before, much less such a difficult man as this. And yet...

"No alternative," he repeated, comforting himself with the fact. "So relax. For once, let me take the responsibility."

You're reading Stargate fic? One of my favorite fandoms, and I adore McKay, although his Stargate: Atlantis doesn't quite measure up to the original Stargate: SG-1. Battlestar Galactica is my current favorite, but there are very few possibilities for slash so far. But a good fic about Apollo boinking anyone will make my day!

I can't believe I missed [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com]'s fic! *rushes off to read*

Oh dear, I'm afraid I've really messed you up! You can send me your next counseling session bill. You'll get used to it, I promise!

I can send you my next counselling session bill? Now I know you must truly be an impostor because NatashaCHEN would never say such a thing. She ain't got a dime to her name (whatever that name is, waaaaah).

Well, oddly, I have more money now than before all the foreclosure business, because the bank lets me use as much of my pension as I want. So I'm letting it tide us over for a month or two until I can generate some actual income. In the meantime, I'm feeling rather independently wealthy. I'll just be poor when I'm old.

Are you hoarding away that money? What a great time to save! Or, alternatively, to buy a ticket to Europe and visit ME! :-)

Well, I'm trying to hoard, but that's a little hard to do if I spend it gallivanting about Europe, even if it is with you. We've already nixed the mail-order bride wedding in Hawaii in an effort (new and unheard-of for me)to be thrifty and prudent.

Well, our good Romanian friend met a lovely Ukrainian over the internet a few years ago, and managed to get her over here on a student visa. He couldn't do the marriage-for-a-green-card thing because he's not a US citizen yet. But anyway, they've been in lurve since they first met in the chat room, and now they're finally getting married in Hawaii in June. Argh. It's expensive for just the three days we'd be there, and I don't know if my health can handle the trip and the heat.

I wouldn't be able to recognise a Battlestar Galactica icon if it flew me in the face, I'm afraid.

Well, at this point, 49 of my 50 icons are BSG. (I had to keep one MB icon just in case I write something). And BSG is out on DVD in UK, so what is your excuse? It's a wonderful show chock-ful of angst, moral dilemmas, thrilling action and marvelous actors (pimps Oregon girl Katee Sackhoff). Not much slash potential as yet, but if there is any, you'd find it!

Um. Is it a movie or a TV series? And um, am resistant to sci-fi unless I've been sucked into it via Zelenka'esque slash. So write some and you may win me round!

There's a four-hour miniseries (a must-see, although not quite as good as the series) and a 13-episode TV series that just wrapped up here in the US. I don't watch Sci-Fi either, but this is different; very much character-based and the action, while good fun, definitely takes a back-seat.

I can't- I haven't read enough SG fic. I'll check with [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com], who's a McKay/Beckett shipper, but she can hopefully show me where the fic is.
