I saw Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Martin Freeman!! *hearts* I never heard the original radio play but have now got it out of the library and t'sons and I are listening our way through it. I realise I actually know a lot of the lines because people have been quoting them at me for all these years, I just never knew their source.

Ah, and the first great crush of my life was into it, now I remember! He was a geek. *sighs in happy memory* God, I adored him. I remember going through all the boys we knew with other girls at school and they were aghast that I'd like that weird-looking one, they all liked Other-sexgod-boy.

So how come I ended up marrying the Sexgod-one and never even fucking kissed my geek-god??

I guess I'm now reliving the lust by pairing weirdoes and reading fics about flabby physicist (geek boy went on to become a molecular biologist).

I married a geek-boy and have never regretted it for a minute. We just saw HHG and it was fine. He laughed along with the theatre when Trillian said she didn't need the point-of-view gun, she's a woman.

So that's not in the book or radio play? Hm, it wouldn't be, given the date of 1978.

I was not geeky enough when I was 12 to listen to it!! You're way ahead of me! I had to work myself up into geekdom. *g*

I am such a massively geeky Hitchiker's geeky geek, so I was a bit sniffy and purist about the film, which is foolish since there are so many versions and mutations of the 'original', but hey, I can't help it. We've all got to be sniffy and purist about something, eh? Actually, I liked lots of bits of the film, but the books are my favourite.

I thought the BBC radio programme was the original original? Not the books?? *does attempt at purism herself; also, radio play is only thing she knows as has not yet read books, and, um, only heard first six episodes of radio show so far but enough to appreciate difference from film*

Oh it is, it is! This is another reason why my own attempt at purism is laughable and ridiculous. But I read the books long before I heard the radio series and they remain my favourite incarnation.

omg this means you are more purer than what i am, wtf! *shoots self but not really*

I always aim to be the most puriest even if I've no clue what I'm talking about and do it mostly through my arse. But in a very purist fashion!!
