my New Life

This is the first day of my new one-year life!

My research grant kicked in today. I woke up, feeling responsible about having to live up to it. My new regime: all day library stint, punctuated by elevenses (yes!), lunch and afternoon coffee in the cafeteria. Wonderful research-research all day long into, yes, narrative, no less. Strange overlaps with online life... Well, not so surprising. Why did I get into fiction-writing in the first place? Hah.

Cafeteria times strictly timed but deliciously filled with slash-reading (today, wow: [livejournal.com profile] cupiscent's "Plumbing" -- I really will have to pack it in after that), and, after-lunch drowsy time (toter Punkt! *g*) naughtily filled with reading John Gardner's Art of Fiction whence I gacked a few fun-looking writing exercises.

As [livejournal.com profile] lazulus keeps telling me: move sideways. Must think laterally to trick myself out of writing crisis.

That was Day One of My New Life. So far, so good.

The writing exercises sound fun! Pass some on? From available evidence I think you are more lost for direction than aim, if indeed there's a problem at all.

Don't you dare

Oooh! A gratuitous mention! And we've only had the two dates!

Lateral thinking is good. I am a great believer in lateral thinking!

We wants it!

Your new life sounds marvelous! Research, slash and hobbit-meals. What more could a girl want?

Ack! Like Gloria said: Don't you dare pack it in! I take it all back!

(One of us is enough. Somehow, since finishing Plumbing, I have had not one new idea for fanfic. Not so much as the distant sighting of a bunny-tail. It's strange. I feel lost. I may have to retire, simply because I've run out of things to say.)

It's been days, after all < /sarcasm> ...

Darling, you've already had more bunnies than most people get in years. Patience! They'll come!
