Well, here's the weird thing: Rodney and John did not kiss or even hug once. It was very perturbing. They were larger than life, they were fanon come to life, but they behaved so strangely and in such a restrained fashion, it was like seeing it all out of focus. Also, how somewhat spooky is it to see a show you've never seen before yet know all the names, all the backstories, all the meanings of all the gadgets, all the characterisations, all the places.

But goodness, slashers are truly alchemists: we turn shit into gold, and I love it. I love all SGA fic writers with even greater love after having seen the somewhat meagre material they have worked with. And oh, how they have wrung those interstices dry! Marvels upon marvels!

I did see Rodney's nipple! (omg liek wtf 111 &£@) And this is what slashers thrive on: such slim pickings! But I could just see all those fans who've been following this show going 'oooh err his NIPPLE', and had to laugh and rewind.

It was a clothed nipple. But still. Shit into gold, shit into gold!!

I can see now, though, why everyone's been going apeshit over the McKay/Sheppard pairing. I can totally see it.

The downside is that I faffed und fuffed and watched the SGA episode and wrote HP instead of marking the rest of my essays and finishing my article and writing my book!

So now I feel annoyed with myself and in a dejected, irritable mood. I shall print out some of the recced fic, retire to bed and go to sleep early for a shiny new start tomorrow. Unless the fic are of that variety that keeps me reading until 1 a.m.... !!

That's what amazes me about SGA fandom. The show is mediocre on a good day, but all of the best fanfic writers seem to have been drawn to it. Although it is true that the McKay/Sheppard is so, so obvious. I don't even attempt to watch the show anymore- I just read the fic!

I was reading some more SGA fic today and it is truly breathtaking! It seems as if shaving-like, all the best and the greatest in slash collects around the magnet of SGA. I then went and looked at some of what the authors had written in other fandoms and while good, it wasn't nearly as cosmic as their SGA. I don't know what it is, some subliminal ATA-slash gene embedded in the cheap-o opening credits?? I also think now that I've seen them walk and talk and move once, I don't need to see other episodes.

You will notice that SGA is attracting lots of people who used to be in Sentinel. Fabulous characters, fabulous powers, all deeply underutilized by the official writers? Hey, we feel right at home.

Interesting!! And now come to think of it, I had sort of subliminally noticed that. Sentinel is another fandom I know only through the fanfic. :-)

Fanon come to life - heee, yes, that's what I was like!

Rodney's tight zip-up tops are most nippleicious. Grr, why do I have no SGA icon? Oh yes, that would be my slighly fucked computer situation. Bah.

I looked at my diary - how are the first two weeks of March for you? I'm allowed to take time off in the first two weeks of any given month.

Have you written any SGA? (I have not.)

Are you writing at all? I am but not posting. What is it with us? I wish so much I were still posting but it's just not happening.

Has your story for that zine gone online now?

a) Nope. I'm not at all sure I could, actually. I'm not sure why, I was talking to someone about this, and it seems to fit in with some of those fandoms I've read voraciously, but never even attempted to write. X-Files was like that for a while and, to a a lesser extent, Buffy. I'm not sure what it is.

b) Not really. I haven't written anything of any significance for about a year now. I'm pretty sure this is mainly because of antidepressants, as I know other people have had a similar experience. It's odd, because it's not just not being able to write, it's not even being able to see the point in attempting it. But. In about a week or so's time, I will no longer be taking them, so we shall see.

c) Ah, thanks for reminding me! We were supposed to wait 18 months before posting, so by my calculations I will be posting it in March. Heh. Weird.
