Today was a bright and cold day. There were white speckles on top of the wooden garden table and the guinea pig outdoor cage. The asphalt looked grey.

I am teaching myself to notice and write about the weather. I think it may come in useful for HP fic, and any other fic thereafter. (If there ever is a thereafter, huff.)

I am writing my book. Today, I collated all the chapters, much as I did with HP fic last week. I have 67,000 words of HP opus and I have 135,000 words for my book!!! Mg, how did that happen? Now it's deletin' time. I am writing about anecdotes at the moment; it is fun! What do you think an anecdote is, and how is it different from a joke, and from a short story, and can anecdotes be circulated in print or are they mainly an oral form? We know that a picture can tell a story but can a picture tell an anecdote?

I am looking fab today in clothes that I bought at Kew when I was in London with a rl friend on Tuesday. That is the shop for me! I was in fashion heaven! I am never in Fashion heaven as I hate clothes shops. The only shops I like are Zij in Holland and Banana Republic in the USA and these shops are not within commuting distance of me but Kew is! The colours, the cuts, the materials, it is all so ME! So today I am wearing a charcoal-browney bouclé cardigan with two big round buttons, a V-neck long-sleeved brown T-shirt with browney-pearly buttons sewn along the neckline, and some non-Kew items, namely a grey knee-length wool skirt and woollen tights and my flat lace-ups that make me feel like a nurse! I love this look. it was a pity that I spent all day at home so in order to flaunt myself about a bit, I picked t'son up early from school and we went to a café.

Also, yesterday I took the ibook out for the first time to a café. It was fantastic! But now that I hear that [livejournal.com profile] ukcalico's laptop has carked it after having knocked against something last summer, I am nervous! Should one move one's laptop around at all????

An old flame (my first!) sent me the double-CD of the collected songs of the Thought Criminals. Australians on the flist: anyone remember the Thought Criminals? Memory lane!! They were very punk and very Sydney, and the bass guitarist was my best friend's boyfriend. I wore a home-cut T-shirt with slashes underlaid with pink satin and did the pogo.

Apparently you ought to be quite careful moving laptops around because hard discs don't really like it. I did not know this and am now ever so slightly paranoid as I do shove mine around rather.

Sounds like a fabulous outfit, except that I never wear brown. It does seem like a requirement to be out and about when looking yummy.

Before brown was in, I never wore it either. You have to make do with what's in fashion and I look okay in it. I love beige best and khaki and sage and heather and rust.

wow, you have completely different coloring from me. This season is terrible, because everything is in shades of brown. So far, I'm managing with khaki, turquoise and coral. I really need bright colors or I look like a corpse!

i-books have a motion sensor that protects the drive if you drop the machine, and they are made of the same stuff that's in bulletproof glass. so as laptops go, they're pretty robust.

b.x :)

So should I buy one of those protective skins at 30 pounds to wrap my ibook in when I take it for a walk??

you mean one of those slim neoprene-y type cases? i have one of those, that i put inside a scruffy old bag that does not look as if it could possibly contain a rather nice laptop. *nods*

So these bags are worth the money, then?

YAY! for book! break a leg ...

kew's clothes are cute! but not stick out like a sore thumb fashionable. i likes.

i don't remember the thought criminals at all. i'm not sure when you were in australia but i remember swooning over a band called psuedo echo in the early 80s ... who were not punk at all, more new romantic or alternative or whatever they called people like duran duran and spandau ballet.

Heh, I didn't know you knew about Australian bands! I don't know Pseudo Echo. I only know the Thought Criminals because my best friend was the bass guitarist's girlfriend! They are not a well-known band, *g*. Which is why it's so hilarious they've issued a 'collected works' DVD.
