intro finished, wow and whee! :-) :-) :-)
Mar. 31st, 2006 10:49 amI went to bed too late, staring at SGA eps on my laptop and writing Cadman fic so I woke up bleary-eyed and zonk-brained. Still, I struggled up to my loft desk, set my timer and started typing, because as Flylady says, routines are everything not an achieved task.
And just now I finished my Introduction! It's not the final draft so it needs some editing and some clipping, but I re-read the final paragraphs and, if I say so myself, they are fantastic. I am so pleased with them! My heart is beating with excitement: I've got this thing licked. I made grand pronouncements, I adduced examples, I argued for my position, I argued for a balanced assessment, and I am being totally radical and saying something I've never read elsewhere.
*grins inanely*
Well. It just feels fabulous now and again to do something that is not angst- or guilt-ridden or riddled with diffidence and then just to go and post about it, Rodney McKay "I am the best" style. :-)
This means I can go into the Easter break with a view to tackling Chapter One thereafter.
My anchor image for the Introduction is Gérome's The Christian Martyrs' Last Prayers, 1863-83, Baltimore, Walters Art Gallery. I saw this on my research trip to the States in 2003. Isn't it a fantastic painting?

A bigger version is here (I didn't want to clutter my post but it is great to see the picture in big.)
Some of you may remember me posting an analysis of this picture two years or so ago. :-)
Ah, now for a well-deserved break. My god, I have been tying for 2 1/2 hours solid. I need a) water, b) one of the delicious mince-meat-filled capsicums (peppers) I cooked the other night, c) a dosage of SGA.
And the sun is shining!!! Whoops, that should go in a weather post.
