Someone called
almostnever has, apparently, declared this to be Comment To Everyone On Your Friendslist Day.
Now my first thought about this was 'ooh, I'd better make a post so that people can comment'! Isn't that absurd and self-absorbed?
And my second thought was 'ooh, but which Friendslist? I hope it's the Default List because if it's all of the List I'll never get to bed tonight'.
And my third thought was 'ooh, I've just posted something totally inane, a weather report, and the two people who mentioned cteoyfd on their journals immediately commented, and this means they only commented because of cteoyfd and not genuinely, and this cheapens all comments!'
My fourth thought was 'ooh, comments, who cares, just collect 'em'.
I am possibly having too many thoughts upon this topic.
Also, all of my thoughts seem to begin with 'ooh'.
ETA: My obsession with this concept appears to be endless. I have since had two more thoughts!
My fifth thought was, 'so how often do you have to comment in your Friendslist? Do you comment on every single post? Or just once per person? Because some people post a lot! And do comments to comments count?'
My sixth thought was, 'I could signal my cteoyfd comment of the day by entitling that particular comment cteoyfd, and that way people would know, aha, this is cteoyfd comment, and then any subsequent comment or comment I would have made anyway would be untitled and not part of cteoyfd'
I am now a pretzel, I am so tied up in thoughts.
Also, I have developed a worrying affinity for the acronym cteoyfd.
Yet more ETA (see what this meme does to me?):
cteoyfd stands for 'comment to everyone on your friendslist day'.
Seventh thought: Does this mean you also have to feedback every fic that appears on your Friendslist, whether in a person or a community post???
Also, I have been naughty. I have been commenting the acronym cteoyfd in all sorts of people's journals. Just the acronym, without explanation. Some of these people may not know this meme is happening. Also, they may not know that I singlehandedly decided to acronymise it. But it is so much fun being naughty. *hangs head but continues doing it!* *runs away like nine-year-old who's rung neighbour's doorbell*

Date: 2006-04-21 03:03 pm (UTC)i think the idea was just to give folks a friendly wave, you know, esp. if you don't usually comment on their journals. i don't think you have to comment on multiple posts. it's easy for me though, i only have a small (but perfectly-formed) flist.
b.x :)

Date: 2006-04-21 04:28 pm (UTC)Have a cteoyfd , anyway. Except you haven't posted so I can't cteoyfd you officially.
Also, why is there no wedding list link on your wedding website? And no address for sending gifts to??

Date: 2006-04-21 08:54 pm (UTC)My first concern is that I don't most of the people on my friends list and I am confident that they do not know me. I do not know how or why my friends list was created. It would be very odd for me to comment in their journals.
I might wait a few days and than announce a 'declare yourself to strangers on your friends list day'. That would be dcytsoyfld.
Or, I quite enjoy posting to people who are not on my friends list and with whom I share no interests. It is a more maverick approach. You should start a day of that.
How is your back? I was away during your posts about it. Has it improved?

Date: 2006-04-21 09:08 pm (UTC)I should point out that cteoyfd was not my idea. It is a meme I picked up from somewhere, like one might pick up a flu virus.
My back is better, thank you. Still tender, and I'm not going swimming tomorrow nor lifting heavy things.
Honestly, a day of posting to people who are not on my List! No, that's one you have to start! :-D
Oh, and that link I posted, to everyone's favourite pics? That has some yummy Ewans. Incl. one of Ewan in bed with Jude! Do you know it?

Date: 2006-04-21 10:46 pm (UTC)This is all academic, however, as I have COMPLETELY FAILED cteoyfd. I left two comments all day, not including this one. Oh well. Also, cteoyfd looks kind of Welsh. Which is a plus in my book.
