For the first time this year, I am actually inside the weather.

I am sitting in the garden, squinting at the LED display in the sunshine. (What, btw, is the secret to portable internet connectivity here? How do you type and see when in bright solar illumination??)

The sun feels quite hot on my head. When I touch my hair, it has been warmed up. A slight breeze plays with strands about my eyes. The knuckles on my hand are also warmed. When I put my hand on the bench, the sunwarmed parts are warm, and there are stripes of coolness where the slats cast shadows.

All that green foliage and wavey blossomness is now right in front of my eyes. When I look up, sunspots reflect off the rim of my spectacles.

Noises are more pressing. A distant lawnmower is nice, a nearby children's party less so (very grating oompah music and screams and shouts).

Wildlife is rife. A small white dot just flew by. There is a humming sound to my right. A bee, an insect of some description, birds tweeting, another one of those white dots. I could hunker down among the shrubs and check for things that crawl but my back is still too tender.

Laptops don't work very well in the sun. I don't know any tricks. They tend to be usable in the shade.

Maybe if I get a little parasol, like those that you can clip onto pushchairs? :-)
