For the lovely [livejournal.com profile] phineasjones who asked for this:
how about ronon/zelenka? as for style... future tense.
[livejournal.com profile] thamiris's request for Homeric style spilled over into this snippet as well. :-)

"Wise Radek of the nimble mind," will speak Ronon, the fast-fisted.

There will come a time when the population of Atlantis will be sadly depleted. Pink-tongued dawn will no longer find a bevy of busy Terrans at work in the well-engineered spires of the ocean-bound city, nor will the long-extinct gods of that world respond to the desperate libations and ovations of its last two survivors.

It is then, on that pearl-clouded day in the future, that Radek of the old race of the Zelenkans will have to gird his loins and shoulder his holster in order to take up arms against the slings of evil fortune.

"Wise Radek of the nimble mind," will speak Ronon, the fast-fisted, "we will now practise together the arts of war, and soon you shall be as fleet of foot and quick of punch as I, your tutor in all things martial, already am. I will show you all the secrets of fighting of my people, the hardy but doomed Satedans."

"I will endeavour to prove myself worthy of your strenuous efforts", will retort canny Radek. They will set to sparring until velvet-bellied night will have sheathed the domed sky. Then, on that last day of reckoning at the very end of days, Radek the able-minded and doughty Ronon will stand, back to back, and defy their fate.

Fate will not let itself be thwarted. Fate will continue to live outside of time.

Sweetie, I'm glad this pressed some buttons for you, :-) You did give me a doozie of a task to do: future tense!! So it went all apocalyptic and the Last of Our Days on me. Plus, I had just written the Homer style ficlet for Thamiris and it spilled over ruthlessly, whence the velvet-bellied night (this is me ripping off Homer's rosy-fingered dawn). That metaphor seemed to me so totally OTT -- and I was amazed that this is the very one you picked out. I love LJ interaction! I learn so much!
