withdrawal weather

I am having withdrawal symptoms of rl listsib encounter. Also, the weather is grey. Yesterday droplets sprinkled nose, hair and shoulders. Everything smelled fresh and wet. Today, I sit indoors and contemplate the glistening concrete and white-reflectant blades of grass. The sky is a uniform white.

Homer is difficult to imitate because he uses no focalisor, no subjective point of view. This is counter-intuitive for the modern mind, attuned to the subjectivities and crawlings-into-heads of the novel. This was an interesting insight.

I was totally zonked. I went to bed at 9.20! Not only did I do miles of walking (whereas I normally veg keyboard-potato style) but I had also put in 1/2 an hour of swimming that morning! Clearly no longer a nymphet of 21 is all I can say, as I zimmer along ramps. :-)

I have tons to say but must now do my dutiful 1 h 20 minutes! (Only 13:42 to go and it's only 2 past 11! I'll be able to have elevenses, knowing that my book duties for the day are DONE!) Also, my mind is a maelstrom of Bakthin and Jane Smiley (btw, it is Smiley who said that thing about poetry having to be memorised so heh, no wonder you picked up on it because perhaps she is just not the *genius* that is Bakhtin, *g*; I got them mixed up) and orig vs published vs fanfic and memoirs vs orig and plot-making / world-making / character-making vs style and what is hypertropic, anyway? Tried to write more wraith fic in style of action thriller yesterday and found this very, very, very hard. Am not born to write action. But then, was not born to be stepford babe, either, yet managed. Nurture not nature!

Okay, got to do those 13:45. :-)

my brain was a-whirl with all the cleverness we talked. OH yes. i must read me some bakhtin, he sounds so groovy.

probably everything i said about writing and genre is bullshit, best ignored. but at least i was trying to keep up!

go you. your HP plot was FULL of action, so don't ever say you can't do it. i also remember boring!orli being quite DASHINGLY full of action. so!
