COME ON, AUSSIE, COME ON, COME ON.

COME ON, AUSSIE, COME ON!

We are reduced to singing 1970s TV advertisements. T'h bellowed this out last night to resound across the street. T'ridiculous children, being conservative fearfuls as all children are, went 'shh' and 'quiet, Daddy'. I went: 'It's the World Cup! You have to shout and bellow!'

And yay, my sister is back from Egypt and we can yack to our heart's content about the World Cup. She is even more of a fanatic than I am because I try to watch at least 5 minutes of every game but she watches the full 90 minutes of every single World Cup match. Then we txt and phone each other obsessively. Whee, it's such fun!!!

She's going to get her entire family Australia kits. 1111111

Plus: the one goal the Japanese did get against Australia was a shoved goal! The goalie was pushed! My brother-in-law is deeply embarrassed because the referee was Egyptian and my bil is half-Egyptian.

Plus. I won't go on. I realise my Flist is falling asleep. BUT THE WORLD CUP IS SO GREAT.

Soon I will make a post about what I love about the World Cup. And here I am at one with my sister: I truly love the 'world' in 'world cup'. I am not at all backing one team only. Okay, when it's Australia, I am happy, and when it's the USA, I have to be against them winning, and also, I can't wish Serbia luck, and also, I am for every single African team because they have no money and no opportunities and yet battle on so fabulously ... but I'm not like most of the people in the country I live in and hang national flags out of my car or watch only the England games. And if Germany decides to play a little more interestingly, I may even back them.

Unless they play against an African team. *g*

Tonight: Brazil!!!!!

You'll have to teach him the 'Aussie Aussie Aussie, 0i Oi Oi' one. Except that needs a minimum of two, preferably a mob. Sobriety is optional. ;)

What is the time difference? I remember last time with Korea it was a bit of a pain here; one had to get up really early and nothing was on in the evening. I remember Italy in the 1970s when I was living in Australia; to watch the final, I set my alarm for 4:30 a.m.! I had moved the TV into my room and huddled in bed, with the sound turned down low. I knew the results in advance for Australia as I couldn't watch that game but I *taped* it and then fastforwarded in amazement: what, 60 minutes? 70 minutes? 80 minutes??!!! And still no goal? And then all three came in the last eight minutes!!
