It is five to seven. I went to sleep at one a.m. I woke up at ten to six. I feel totally zonked but I was too excited about the two games today to continue in bed. My babies are playing! Portugal/UK and Brazil/France.

This World Cup is more intense than any I've had heretofore. It's the rps: slash makes everything more intense.

It is somewhat pathological.

My heart has hardly had a chance to rest from yesterday's match: Germany!!! Argentina! Penalties!!! GERMANY IS THROUGH!!!!!

Oh, and another thing: There are no spoilers in football. Everything is live. Everything happens as you watch.

And there is absolutely no fps. In lotrips, there was always the Tolkien canon hovering reassuringly in the background; I have no idea what role the actual song oeuvre plays for popslashers. Both fandoms, though, have generated secondary (primary?) texts somewhere in there.

Footballers don't generate texts. They are an fps-free zone.

How am I going to survive today?

P.S. T'son's constipation cleared up. Some day I may tell you the details. They haunt me still.

I believe we may survive without you doing that...

omgosh, we have an entire day of television-watching in front of us. Not only football, we've got Doctor Who to catch up on.

I am going to knit during the football. Is that bad and wrong?

So you're coming here on the 11th, yes? It might be a bit chaotic, because we're having the kitchen floor done that week, I've just discovered. Should be all right though. We could go into town if you fancy it? I won't get you lost this time. ;)

I'm sooo excited about today, and nervous, too. I feel faintish just thinking about it!

I felt so bad for Argentina :( I don't know, I really wanted them to win. Poor babies. And Ukraine. My heart. *sniffs*

P.S. T'son's constipation cleared up.
TMI: I had a lot of operations when I was younger and the I.V. drip would cause the same thing to happen to me. I know what the poor thing probably went through. *pets him*

What t'h thinks of the football slashiness??

Some quotes:
Before the Portugal penalties as C.Ronaldo steps up to the spot:
"Here comes Achilles!"

Other comments on C.Ronaldo:
"He is so camp. He is so gay. Did you see him make a kissy face at the English goalkeeper? That is so gay. He'll get the penalty in for sure; he is the best-looking footballer in the world. He is sex on a stick."

On Brazil:
"That Kaká is very good-looking, isn't he?"

He is used to me becoming obsessed during World Cups. This is the first time that t'sons are joining in.

T'8-year old son: "I like Kaká. He has a cool name. I like Cristiano Ronaldo. He looks nice."

I have indoctrinated them well.
