Thank Heaven for every goal. Also: I am the brother of Bernini's Saint Teresa.

I do it when I'm stripey, too.

Or am I just looking up at the screen to check out if this is a bad hair day or not?

This one was for you, dad.

Saint Teresa, by Bernini

Today I felt a God-fic coming on. It featured Kaká, C.Ronaldo, a monastery, the Vow of Silence and shades of Umberto.

Somebody, rescue me, quick.

On the other hand, insane as it sounds, it would be an interesting challenge to write a fic involving religious faith. I haven't read any such. It would be an ethical challenge. And could be aesthetically rewarding.

Also: canon!!

And finally: we art historians love Catholicism.

Possibly also "must see and die". As in petit mort.

Hm, I don't seem to have an orgasm icon.

Gombrich!

Ah, you see, I started to like the statue only once I understood it! *g* It used to get on my nerves.

It needs a certain amount of sophistication to appreciate the Baroque. Which you obviously had spades of way before I did. :-)

Kaká is so beautiful. He just...wow. I adore him.

[livejournal.com profile] greeniebach has written a FABULOUS Kaka/Sheva fic dealing with religion: Depths of Faith. It's an absolutely beautiful story.

Oh, thank you for that rec! I will bookmark straight away! By 'Sheva', you mean Shevchenko, yes?

Why have the Kaká pics dried up, why oh why? Has his family bribed the paparazzi or something? Or is just nobody interested in a non-diving, non-winking, non-step-overing and non-weeping husband? *pulls out hair*

Sorry, yes, Sheva. He's purdy, too. In the strong, silent type kind of way. Mmm. And he looks YUMMY in a suit. (I don't know if he can play football, but he's hot!, so really, it doesn't matter.)

I dunno where the pics have gone. I'm so distraught! Poor Kaka. I mean, if there are no pictures, we'll have to judge him on his talent on the pitch. *gasps* We don't even know if he's in Brazil or Italy. *cries*

Hmmm... Kaká and Cristiano creeping around a Monastery trying to stay silent could be interesting. A bet? A pilgrimage? Are they in a cell or a small, ornate chapel?

Am I helping? Because they are both so beautiful.

Nah, they're on a beach.

I'm a sucker for beaches. :-) They are both so beautiful! This one criterion over-rides all sense of realism and verisimilitude for me!

Well it's not that I mind the sand sticking to the fiddly bits, but out of curiosity; how are you planning on working the Monastery angle into a beach scene?

Ah, never question the resourcefulness of the true obsessive literary mistress! The monastery is, of course, near the beach. Lindisfarne style.

Hm, I must google this. What, I wonder, is monastery in Portuguese? *looks up her dictionary*

But Friedrich! Fog! :-) *counters with another 19th-C. painting*

I don't think I want to do god-crack. That would be too easy. And would feel wrong (for me). Because I actually really, really respect Kaká and Cafú for their footballers for god thingy.

Do you remember that scene from 'Im Name der Rose' (don't know the English title' where the novice (played by Christian Slater in the movie) meets that girl and they have sex in that storage room or whatever? I can totally picture that with Kaká as the novice and Cristiano as - well, not as the girl obviously but as the pretty local whom Kaká just can't resist.... Kaká would be such an earnest novice and Cristiano so utterly beautiful... *swoons*

Somebody, rescue me, quick.
Oh, you wanted to be rescued? Sorry! *cackles*

English title: The Name of the Rose. And omg, the novice was Christian Slater? Of Velvet Goldmine gorgeosity? I didn't even realise at the time!! I must re-watch! I was actually thinking more of the book.

Haha, you read my mind because Cristiano was going to be the pretty local. But not in the Eco sense, I have to admit, too gruesome -- in the book, the sex scene is interlaced with guilt about sin and rants about the horrors of the flesh.

"Saint Teresa's love of God and her desire for spiritual union with him found expression in a vision in which an angel pierced her heart with a golden spear and sent her into a trance. The erotic intensity of her vision is vividly suggested in this image by Teresa's swooning expression and languid pose, and by the deep folds of drapery, which convey her agitation."

Duh... *shudders* I love Renaissance and Baroque, nothing but sensuality, desire and life in those statues and paintings, lol. Such a pity I didn't know how to appreciate this when I wrote my homework on it back at school. All form and perfectness...
Gorgeous pics of Kaká! :D It's really got hard to find anything more after I've run my search all over the internet and fished out most I could get... :(

But your idea for the fic, yay! sounds too good, makes me go all tingly here :D

And Jesus, all the beauty that runs through my mind right now *sigh* Thanks so much :)
