Yesterday, there was a fog all day. Each light had a halo. Lights also diffused into droplets in the air. Objects and figures loomed mysteriously at only a short distance. It lent quite an atmosphere to the day. The sky was pale blue. All the trees were rimed in frost so there was a lot of white about which made the gloomy day brighter. I carried in the Christmas tree in its netted condom. It dripped frost onto its blanket.

Also, it was chill outside, for the first time during this globally warmed winter. This was not unpleasant. I had to wear a beanie to cover my ears.

This morning, there is no frost. Instead, everything is dripping. The asphalt is wet. The grass is green and moist. Various branches in flame-like or fan-like configurations are outlined in black against the white sky. It is mild again.

It's bloody 'orrible! And the perfect excuse for Heathrow to f*ck up everyone's holiday plans AGAIN.

And now I have to clean the house and look into corners that I'd sooner not look at, because MY MUM's coming to stay for Christmas. That wouldn't matter - she's used to me - but my NIECE is also visiting, and she is a severe critic of my housekeeping. Dang! I shall intoduce her to feminism and ideological-non-dusting (together with subversion and paganism) when she's older.

Ah, the Problem of Relatives Coming to Stay in One's Underdusted House... Well, heh, I discovered Flylady in January 2005 (linked and lured by [livejournal.com profile] brightest_blue, no less) and transformed myself from feminist non-duster to Stepford flybabe. *cackles and waves duster in your face evilly*

P.S. Yes, I actually own a duster. Two duster! And yes, I dust for ten minutes every Saturday!

I could bore on but will spare your delicate nerves.

I think it's lovely to have some real cold, at last! We've got frost again today.

for some reason fog and haloed-lights makes me think of victorian london with horse carriages looming up out of the fog.

the temperature here has been unseasonably warm too, hovering between 0 and 10oc. i hope this is not going to affect my bulbs come spring ...
