Us, by [livejournal.com profile] lim.

I've now seen this vid twice. The first time round, I thought 'what a breathtakingly beautiful vid, what an aesthetic experience'. Then I read [livejournal.com profile] cesperanza's analysis of it and I started thinking, wow, this is evidently the kind of vid that repays re-viewing. So I re-viewed and was very, very moved.

It reminded me how much I deep down love fandom and how privileged I feel to have been part of this (you! us!) for these past many years.

I've watched it three times now and I'm still not sure I 'get' all of it but it is very moving and beautiful. Who's that on the mountain top?

I'm not sure I get all of it either, but I like it lots! I can't remember offhand who's on the mountain, but it may be from due South. There are mountains in that. :)

I got to your LJ from cesperanza's, just looking around for some enlightenment or discussion of the vid. I think it's Kirk & Spock on the mountaintop, from the color of their tunics (command gold & science blue), but I could be wrong! I actually wondered at one point if the mountain was a comment on the company that owns ST,Paramount, (their logo is a mountain) but there are better images to use for that concept so I'm not sure. Some of the imagery confuses me, but then something will pop up that I totally "get."

For me, those were the Misty Mountains and the people were hobbits or somesuch but this is not a canonical scene from Lord of the Rings. But then maybe that is the beauty of the vid: it is whatever it is to whoever views it. So if for me it's lotrips, then that's it! It somehow evokes the atmo of lotrips.

Oh, P.s., I was in the best bookstore in England on Sunday (we must go there next time you're here) in Ely and I bought another novel by A.L. Kennedy. It really does look very good. It has a fab first page. It's called .. hm, something or other, where is it? Um. Everyday something? Ah: Everything You Need. The first page includes the word 'fuck'. This bodes well.

OOh, thanks for the link! It made me feel all warm and fuzzy and a bit weepy.

I've watched it three times now and it made me totally fuzzy and weepy, and I've been thinking about it during the day. it's so beautiful and also fiendishly clever. I'm still not sure I 'get' all of it.
