Date: 2008-02-06 08:24 pm (UTC)I've been thinking about your point about ex-fanboy turned ptb (Russell T. Davies) because I watched Kiss Kiss Bang Bang today, a Torchwood episode not written by him but still. The whole Torchwood enterprise is, actually, very savvy about fannishness (that vampire slayer actor in there! so meta!) so I'm seeing your point now about the disavowal being a bit different in this case from the usual canon/fanon divide. It's quite interesting, and interesting how even such an already fanboyish and already queered text can nevertheless still generate yet more subversive fanfic twistings. Is this an endless chain of subversion - subversion -subversion? *feels lost in a Derridean sea*
