I struggled through the depression, and I drifted through the tranquillisation (anti-depressants), and I struggled through the withdrawal, and now it seems I've come out the other side and it's amazing!

The day before yesterday I typed up a 4,500 word fic that had been sitting in my handwritten notebook for 1 1/2 years. Yesterday I wrote two fics (total of 2,000 words). Just now, I printed out my wraith fic -- I started that fic in April 2006; it's the most revised fic I've ever written (I'm on the fifth or sixth draft, and each time I sweated blood and tears); it's 33,000 words long (61 pages of dense no-borders Times New Roman font size 11 print-out) -- and I read a paragraph of it as it spewed out of the inkjet printer and whooped with glee!

I haven't whooped with glee in aeons! Not since the 2006 World Cup.

Because the wraith fic is good! All the revisions paid off. I can still spot some flaws but I like it; my mouth grinned as I read; I felt that clutch of excitement, yes, this one's working out, I can feel this pairing in my gut.

Now I go to t'reference library. I put finishing touches to last night's fic for posting this afternoon. I take with me the 61-page print-out for one last draft, and then for sending to my tiny team of betas who've probably forgotten by now that they ever agreed to beta for this... *g* [livejournal.com profile] romanciere? [livejournal.com profile] mrssheldrake? [livejournal.com profile] liviapenn? [livejournal.com profile] sageness for Ameripicking? *looks hopeful*

Then I do external marking. And ponder: what next?

It's so good to hear you're feeling great... not just better, but great! And congratulations on writing again and liking the results.

Yes, isn't it amazing? And I actually dared articulate it. Normally, I'm 'hm, I'm feeling great, this must mean that tomorrow I shall be punished'.

I am just so happy to be writing! It fulfills me so much!

Ooh, floral icon.

In case you're interested in some wraith-behind-the-scenes, go to Joe Mallozzi's blog. He posts frequently pictures from the set and today's pics include wraiths.

Also, I'm glad to hear you're feeling good!

eh bien, bring it on! Because your writing is always good (ok, sometimes gooder <g> than othertimes) even when I haven't a clue re the fandom. And I could do with a tasty beta project to balance this non-fiction draft I am reading to see if it needs a rewrite ...

You must have agreed to this in a moment of drunken benightedness, *gg*, because I have it written down in my Header wot i typed up when I first penned the fic! I have no idea where the conversation took place. Thank you so much for still agreeing! I really value your perspective especially as you are one of the few people who appreciate and know about the attempt to create space and atmosphere.

I want to tidy the final pages and then I'll email it!

I can Ameripick! Do me a favor and remind me which fic this is because I am a dork and can't remember anything if I don't write it down in three places? Also, if there are any warnings for disturbing content or anything? (Feel free to email if you'd rather not post it in comments. sageness at gmail.) :)

Yes! Thank you! I also can remember nothing which is why I wrote down your name in the Header as soon as we had whatever conversation we had whenever it was! *g* This is an SGA fic, John Sheppard stranded on a desert island with a wraith. And given the pairing, there is disturbing content but not of the psycho kind, just of the I-am-an-evil-lifesucking-alien kind. What I need is Ameripicking only for the dialogue; I am not Americanising the narrative prose, just the direct speech of John Sheppard (wraith can speak however I like, *g*). So ignore all the prose except for Sheppard. :-) I'm tidying up the final pages and then I'll email it on over! Thx you!
