Bin ich noch zu retten?
Mar. 8th, 2008 12:29 amToday, I found myself browsing the manga shelves at Border's, and before I knew it, I was sitting in one of the soft armchairs and spending an hour glued to the pages of vol. 1 of
. I've only ever read one previous yaoi manga (pretty boy-on-boy love) and was a bit *shrug* but this one? Somehow, this particular artwork just... *guh* It's just as well that, unlike men, we can hide our state of er, privacy, when out in public.
I was quite hot and bothered.
I didn't buy it, though, because this month I don't have mounds in the bank. I'll see if I can get the whole series more cheaply online. And then I will photocopy the droolpics and glue them all around my desk. Erm, or not (t'sons!).
*winks at
orlisbunny: I am finally succumbing!*
Any recs? I know nothing of this genre. I've browsed amazon listmania lists to get some idea. Some of the styles totally do not agree with me, if the boys are too skinny or too ethereal or the sex is too graphic or the boys are too cutesy.
Also, bishonen experts on my flist: why does the style sometimes veer from semi-realistic to cutesy-attenuated, with big mouths and very schematised facial features?

Date: 2008-03-08 02:00 am (UTC)I've actually got a handful of yaoi manga that I've been trying to unload -- Amazon won't sell them as used because they're not in the catalog, and it's not like you can just toss dirty comic books in the used-book-donation basket with your sci-fi paperbacks and old textbooks. Want them?

Date: 2008-03-11 03:58 pm (UTC)I have eight little digest-sized yaoi manga -- seven of them are pretty decent; the eighth one is an issue of BeBoy (various stories by various artists), so some of the stories are OK but most are lame, and IIRC, a few of the stories are edging into shota territory, which grosses me out. (I mean, I can't read Japanese, so I don't know how old these boys actually are; I only know how old they look.)
I also have an artbook by Nitta Youka (the Haru artist); it's larger, about the dimensions of an American comic book but with more pages, and it features the Haru guys, but there's no story and it's not explicit. Either of y'all particularly want that?

Date: 2008-03-08 09:09 am (UTC)OOh, yes please, yaoi! I'll have them! Are they crap and that's why you are ditching them? Or are they gems that have turned into house clutter? The one thing I have to say that did occur to me is that this may be the kind of reading I do only when t'sons are not within eye shot. So there goes the dream of ripping out the juicy pages and sticking them all around my desk...
I'll email address!
Whee.

Date: 2008-03-08 07:13 pm (UTC)For well-drawn hardcoreHARDCORE yaoi you need to read Kazuma Kodaka! Really. I scan you a random page... HERE srsly nsfw
Read/buy her Kizuna series! Yum. And Kusatta Kyōshi no Hōteishiki, which is my most favourite manga of all time. So fun this series! Seriously. And she draws soooo well. Both Kizuna and Kusatta are available in German, I have no idea about English - I own them in Japanese.
Also fun is her equivalent of PWP: Sebiro no Housekeeper and it's sequels SnH2 and Not ready Sensei?!2 wich s a continuation of a short story in SnH1. Porn. The scan above is out of SnH1, btw.
Then a one shot manga. Cavemen sex. I'm not kidding. It's seriously hot. Piccie of the seme. It's called Wild Rock and is by Kazusa Takashima. Her drawing is breathtakingly beautiful. The plot is... well, it's got cavemen sex. :P I rec it, nonetheless.
Then we got Hinako Takanaga. Who prefers to draw R rated stuff but does a mean hardcore too. I love her sweet, romantic series Little Butterfly, which is the most dumbest title ever, btw. In German it's even worse. o.O But anyway. All her works are excellent. I hate romance in manga because of a severs Sailor Moon trauma, but this, this is really beautiful.
Then we got something else, the best yuri (femslash) I've ever found: Maka Maka by Kishi Torajiro
And it's for free on the net! :D
There, finished. :)
Re: RECS
Date: 2008-03-10 10:47 pm (UTC)Oh linky goodage!!
I have ordered the following from amazon (all volumes 1 to see if I like them-- this is before I learned both the word and the concept of 'scanlation'): 1 of: Fake: v. 1 (Fake) [Paperback] by Matoh, Sanami
1 of: Love Mode: v. 1 (Love Mode) [Paperback] by Shimizu, Yuki
1 of: Shout Out Loud!, Volume 1 [Paperback] by Takaguchi, Satosumi
1 of: Embracing Love 1 (Yaoi) [Paperback] by Nitta, Youka
I came across Kodaka but didn't like the drawing style 100 percent except now I just viewed your page and I went fjksldfkjkjwielsdf. *slumps off chair in mess*
You read Japanese...?? I can do German. I'm currently reading the French scan of 'Finder' and it's great fun! I can read them no doubt in Spanish, Italian, Dutch... gimme. How did you make those yellow stars??
I just looked at amazon.co.uk and amazon.de and can't find the Kodakas you mention. I can only see Kizuna and 'Kiss me Teacher'. Is that the same as Kusatta?
What is a Sailor Moon trauma?? (The world of yaoi still puzzleth me!)
And fem? 111111111
Re: RECS
Date: 2008-03-11 03:52 pm (UTC)I read Japanese only in Manga and then there as good as my French. Which is okay. But not as good as it was in school. That is I understand the rudimentary things, but keep my dictionary next to me. :P
Kizuna in German is translated very good, no weird wordage or anything. And yepp. Kusatta is 'Kiss me Teacher'. Totally dumb title but, okay, there are teachers. xD It's the best.
Right. Sailor Moon is a kids series. For girls aged 3-10. And, well, look: Can you guess my trauma? Yes. Man. Kitsch.
Right. Was And fem? 111111111 an enthusiastic reply or not? :P
Re: RECS
Date: 2008-03-16 09:32 pm (UTC)I've now received Love Mood or whatever it's called. The style of drawing is not entirely my cup of sake (too cutesy-eyeish) but the story seems intriguing. Finder I gobbled up via scan and was totally and utterly transfixed.
Sailor Moon!! Hoho.

Re: RECS
Date: 2008-03-16 09:33 pm (UTC)But whoa. Whoa. It's kind of... whoa.
There is a fic where Rodney and John are manga cutesy rainbow and butterfly, with pictures much like these. Also, one where Rodney = pink fluffy manga pony.
