Space Soap

So if someone were to write a space soap, and if there were to be one pairing full of angst and desire and eked out ust and soulful gazing and repressed conversation -- who would be that pairing?

it's a pity because I'd really like to tell that certain someone to pair Cristiano Ronaldo / Wayne Rooney except that fandom is so small that nobody but me might read it... (oh, and Junalele and Grondfic, *g*) And also you'd miss out on the space setting.

This kind of soap lends itself to pretty boys. SGA is short on pretty boys. But it does have wraith!! And the wraith could be angsty and desirous and gaze soulfully... oh, I've just written that fic and am angsting over it myself.

Umm, how is Sheppard/McKay different from McKay/Sheppard? Presumably the angsty and lustful UST goes both ways? Or is it for who tops first??? *snorks*

And actually, I'm not sure if I should even be talking to you. I spend last night watching youtube clips of Olli and Christian. And it's all your fault. And what's worse - there is no slash fiction. How can there be no slash fiction? Fandoms without fan fiction should just not be. Argh.

Any recs from the land of space soap??

There was once a Harlequin challenge on stargate flashfiction which produced some excellent fic but at the time, I didn't cotton on to the fact that Harlequin is the American equivalent of Mills & Boone and never made the connection. i just read all of the stories as if they were 'straight' stories.

Which shows how vulnerable I am to Melodrama... I don't even recognise a spoof when I see one. *headshakes*

Yeah we were trying to take off Days of our Lives and just soap opera in general. The idea was for several authors to post episodes of one continuous fic, so the plot and pairings and love triangles etc. would become more and more silly, but real life kept getting in the way. It was fun while it lasted.

I remember the Harlequin site. It had some fab stuff. But most of it was just overly schmooshy and romantic rather than a proper spoof. The best one had Ronon trying to woo Rodney with Miko's help and they were actually following the plot of a Harlequin novel. Romancing Rodney (Or, Ronon Dex Gets His Man) by msgordo [PG-13] It's been a long while since I read it, but I found it hilarious at the time. :)

Oh Shalott write's great fic. I'll have to look for it. It sounds a little like Kellifer_fic's epic, Blade, where Rodney is given a slave (in a sort of fantasy book AU) and they fall in love. That was great too. At least I adored it when I read it. *linky* in case you're interested.

Oh, but the witty evol comes from the fact that I wrote Cristiano/Wayne, possibly before anyone else did, hoho.

Thou I'm curious what sort of reception will Rooney give to Ronaldo upon his return (he will return to MU, no?). I bet he'll make it good, just to teach the cocky bastard a lesson, if Ronaldo's team win or lose.
