You know that 'track this message' function? Does that still work for everybody else?

Because that hasn't worked for me for about the last 4 months.

If I want to get replies to comments I've left in other people's LJs, I have to go to my yahoo email. And as I never go to my yahoo email, it's a bit annoying.

I've only tracked posts and that seems to work ok.

What about setting up a new email address only for LJ comments? Well, LJ comments and spam, of course, but nothing more frightening than that.

Ah! What an idea? How come I never thought of this? I have so many email accounts already -- hell, another one can't hurt! I was worried about you! Hadn't seen you round for a while. Am going through old feedback, for 'diagnostic' reasons. It is on the one hand, wonderfully heartbalming (try it sometime! it actually makes you think you can do this writing malarkey) and heartbreakingly nostalgic on the other hand, because so much of it is lotrips.

Lotrips was something else, you know that? It was like no other fandom. People go on and on about the feedback in SGA but it is nothing, nothing, compared to the feedback in lotrips. Also, I think to a certain extent LJ kills feedback. On the Closer than Brothers yahoo group, I used to get long and thoughtful emails. They just blow me away! LJ encourages short terse replies, hit the 'send' button and move on. I know; I do it myself.

Also, there were so many people in lotrips who were new to the game. Wide-eyed, amazed readers! SGA and HP and all that lot: everyone (including me!) is now so savvy and world-weary; nothing surprises anyone in fandom any longer.

Have a nostalgic icon.

How many entries do you track? And by that I mean have you ever tracked and never bothered to untrack again? Because LJ has an upper limit and when you reach it you need to delete subscriptions to tracked entries before you can track a new entry.

I learned it the hard way. -_-

Go here. It took me three tries and then five minutes for the stupid page to load and then I could only delete one subscription at the time. It's not enough to uncheck the box, you have to click the trash symbol.

Hm. I just deleted all the messages in my Message Centre but I still can't track a post. It just takes ages and ages, and then it times out. Pooh.

The problem isn't the message center messages, it's the number of subscriptions. (I was in a trackless limbo for two weeks before I figured it out. ;_;)
