Hello, techie-knowledgeable listsibs,

how do I convert an mp4 file to a file compatible with powerpoint (i.e to mov or mpeg2)?

Here is my dilemma. I have downloaded a youtube clip in an mp4 format. Powerpoint does not recognise this format. My Apple does not recognise avi. So the format I need for my Apple-run Powerpoint is Quicktime's mov.

Can anyone help?

Thank you! *is going spare here*

Jodix provides various converters for audio and video files. They're free. Go to www.jodix.com

This is annoying. I've just spent money on QuickTime Pro. Oh well. Keep the economy ticking over.

Thank you!! I'm just not patient enough, I guess... :-)

I went and bought QuickTime Pro, not being of a patient disposition and inclined to wait for replies to my LJ post (why do I even post???!). I will keep this in mind, though, for when things go wrong with teh Quicktime. So far it seems to work. *crosses fingers*

It is bloody fiddly stuff, getting all this from youtube onto powerpoint but once done, it'll be there forever and no more schlepping of DVDs and fast-forwarding and waiting for DVD 'THIS OPERATION IS NOT PERMITTED' messages in lectures. Did I tell you that I've been moved from the School of Art to the Department of Film Studies?

What next? They'll get me to teach forensic science or somesuch. Hey ho.
