And has there been any other head of state ever who, in their very first speech after being elected, addresses his audience as gay or straight, disabled or non-disabled, black or white or whatever colour? Who has dared to use the word 'gay' in such an open fashion?

He also mentioned Native Americans. I live quite close to the Southern Ute reservation, and the local college as part of its charter accepts any student of American tribal descent tuition-free, so there were a whole lot of Ute, Navajo, and other Indians celebrating at our party last night, and when he acknowledged Native Americans they went NUTS. It was really quite awesome.
