That's clearly where I've been living 'cos kerfuffles have come and gone or are possibly still here and I never knew nought about it. It's all about racism in sci fi and fantasy, if you read that sort of genre.

But I have learned some new words:

Blogwhoring. I have no idea what it means but it is, apparently, a Thing That One Can Do.

Orcing. I had no idea this could be a verb but it is, apparently. I'm so glad to see echoes of my former fandom flit through the ether.

tl;dr. This means, apparently, 'too long didn't read'. What with the semi-colon being my favourite punctuation mark, I cannot help but admire this little semi-colonial touch.

POC. I live in the UK and now am scared to move to the US as I clearly know none of the requisite acronyms. This (to fellow non-American clue-lessnessers) means 'people or person of colour'.

Oh, and [livejournal.com profile] badgermonkey sent me Wainthropp txt today! *is ecstatic*

Remember txt-slash????

ETA: And now people are being outed??! wtf.

I live in the United States, and it took me a while to catch on to all the acronyms. I guess it says something about the area in which I live that for the longest time I read FOC (Fans of Color) as Folks of Color.

Well, I was sure the F stood for fuck. And couldn't make head or tail of it.

That shows how my mind works, at least... *snorts*

I find it all rather cranky-making. I cope not well with dissent.
