Pondering my new incarnation as full-time busy adhod with an actual job that takes up actual hours and requires things such as actions (as in that action is on me or we need to action this) and training workshops and (tomorrow, *gulp*) attending Vice-Chancellor's Conferences, argh, I offer up the two parallel lives of Fan / Adhod.

Behold the lists below (formatted in cunning html table code). Now I leave it to you to guess which one is which. Friends page? Or adhod mails? X or Y? I know it's hard as you can barely tell the difference 'tween the twain.

Subject lines of X Subject lines of Y
"Oh, look, he's being special again."

"Challenge stuff."

"It has a skunk in it."

"Misha photos."

"Spreadsheets. Lovecraftian fecking horrors."

"Airpsfic. Indiscretion."

"It's a good time to be a geek."

"Emo me."

"Still being random."

"Gratuitous shoe post/driving fun."

"One of those intermittent attempts to reconnect."

"UNQUENCHED OF FLAME: Part 2: The Hunter Heralds Havoc. A Diana Wynne Jones Dogsbody slashfic."

"Oh, lordy, lordy, lordy, lordy me."

"THAT. WAS. AWESOME."

"Image of the night I really didn't need:

Cartoon on the BBC of David Cameron mpreg."
"Manage My Curriculum, Tues 18th May."

"Online module evaluation questionnaire."

"NSS: Final response rates!!"

"Module loadings."

"Timetable training."

"Question on PDP."

"Drama/Media PSF."

"VLE meeting on Monday."

"R&IP is on 30th June 10 am."

"Online marking and feedback pilots."

"Notes from L&T committee this week."

"ISMS: call update, call F0242410 has been updated."

"Partnerships and enterprise summary 17."

Oh and by the way: I work in a university. You can tell by the intellectually stimulating content of the subject lines.

In other news: the UK Defence Academy wants to use my podcasts on how to write an essay...!!? Okay, here's the deal: you can have my podcasts, and I get John Sheppard.

Over and out.

...and not just because you've used table coding for a layout, HA.

It was surprisingly easy! And so satisfyingly geeky! I may post only in table format from now on...!!

NOOOOO. using tables for anything other than data is BAD.

Not so very bad.

Surprisingly unbad.
BAD!

Very, very, very ba-a-ad.

Hm. Table format does not work in comments.

Um.

I do not know what CSS column tags are.... :-( (Psst, the last time I looked at html, it was still the 90s...)

Oh, how that right-hand column makes me wince. Mostly because, well, it's much like mine, only with more bio-pharmaceutical jargon (most of which I don't really understand).

Hee! In the left column I recognize me in the first line!

Yes, wince away, I am almost inured to it which is the scariest part. My brain may turn into an acronym soon.

What has happened to the ideal of universities??

Yes, and it's you in line number one, whee!

Well now, since I appear to feature in the LH column (Wow! thanks for the fic-check), and don't know what adhod is, I'm taking a vague guess at which is which. (OTOH I too work in Higher Education, so you never know).

This post is awesome.

I like to think that all the acronyms in the right column stand for something dirty.

When the Defence Academy deliver Lt-Col Sheppard, may I pop round and borrow him? Just for research purposes, you understand.

I'll file him under 'Openly Accessible' and that should do the trick. Of course, for research purposes only, that is understood. Indeed. Do apply for a grant or a bursary to pursue this promising avenue of enquiry.
