Uruguay wins on penalties; Ghana is out

I can't actually stand it. Those were the worst 10 minutes of football I've ever seen. 'Worst' in the sense that they almost did me in. The excitement is getting too much.

Also, this was not 'football'. Uruguay did not win because of playing 'football'. They got away with cheating (for those of you who didn't watch it, one of their Uruguay players whacked the ball out of the goal with his hand; this prevented the ball from going over the goal line and thus did not constitute a goal for Ghana).

I had to leave the room. It was just too awful. This is beyond nailbiting. This is beyond fun.

Cristiano Ronaldo weeping in 2004 and 2006 was magnificent.

Gyan weeping in 2010 is just plain awful.

Referee gave penalty, sadly Gyan missed it and then Uruguay won on penalties...

I am so upset about it. And in such a messy way too. I hate messy score lines! I want it just to be 5:0 and be done with it, and not 'was it in? was it out?'; 'was it hand?'; 'did a player on purpose sacrifice themselves to a red card in order to give his team a chance at going through?'.

What I am glad, though, is that the referee was good. He allowed the game to develp, assigned faults but not in a way to mess with the game and laughed his ass off (!!) at the theatrics of the players. That was glorious to see, lol. *G*
