Picspam: Iker Casillas weepfest

Yesterday, Spain won the World Cup!

Happy, happy Spain!

Everyone runs around, screaming and jumping for joy.

Except for one cute goalkeeper. Who has broken down, overwhelmed with it all. He's weeping and weeping and weeping. This goes on for minutes.



Iker Casillas weeps.


Casillas weeps uncontrollably.


Casillas weeps so much that he must now eat his shirt.


He weeps with Sergio.


He weeps with Silva.


He weeps with Arjen Robben. Who is the one who actually has cause to weep as he Did Not Win. Hence the need to be in on the weepfest.


Casillas weeps helplessly.


Casillas weeps with everyone. He kneels. They console. Note hugging Spaniards in the background, randomly dotted about the pitch.


Now he's positively blubbing. In a somewhat undignified manner.


But what the heck? He just won the bloody World Cup!!! Look at him shout.
And not a filling in sight.


But he can be happy, too!


Finally, here he is, snogging / snuggling up to / nuzzling King Juan Carlos of Spain.

Random observations: In quiet non-weep moments, Casillas looks a lot like Orlando Bloom!

And Xavi needs to be slashed with Oezil. Utterly.

He's adorable. He defended his position to the end, he kept the ball away for a full 90 minutes, he didn't give the opposite team the satisfaction of a single goal - of course he has a reason to bawl like a baby! DISBELIEF, HAPPINESS, GRATITUDE - those are the emotions running through him! *_*

(Nah, xavi/ozil doesn't do a thing for me. But Irmatov, oh Irmatov, I'd read it in a heartbeat!)

He did! He totally did! And, um, you noted footballing prowess... well done, you. And here I was being shallow and staring only at the weepstering. But he is an AMAZING goalkeeper! He just plucked that ball out of thin air! And I love the way he uses the goalkeeper's tumble correctly all the time, that way he curls his arms around the ball as around a li'l babbee.

As a Germany fan I am deeply prejudiced against Spain, but I've always had a soft spot for Iker. This weepfest was for me the most beautiful part of the WC final (not that that's saying all that much). Thank you for the pics!

But I'm a Germany fan, too! And I liked the Spaniards a lot! And how awesome that the weepfest was for you the most beautiful thing in the WM. I loved, loved Cristiano Ronaldo's sublime weepings of 2004 and 2006 but Iker comes a close second.

I'm so bloody happy that Spain won, so, so pleased that good game overcame the rough rugby Dutch ways.

Seeing Casillas snugging up to KING CARLOS, member of the European royal house with the most strict protocol of them all says it all - football brings out the strongest emotions and brings walls down. *g* I wonder if any of them kissed Queen Sophia during the medal ceremony.
