4900-something words of it. \@@/

I am just short of amazed at self. *stares at fingers* I didn't know they still had it in them. To compose these types of things.

And what's even better is that it's Help Haiti fic!!! The deadline came and went ten months ago and maybe now I can finally stop feeling bad about my fictitious obligations to the cause! And to Msilverstar! And to Zarah!

(Psst. It's Orli/Dom.)

I know. My sentiments entirely.

Except hm. Also not. This merits another post. What happens to one's favourite pairing ten years down the line in rps?? It's not as uncomplicated as I thought it would be.

I know! And so awesome of you to enter into that... hm, is it a spirit? But I had to discover that reviving one's favourite pairing ten years later is not as uncomplicated as first anticipated. In fact, it was bloody hard, and continues to be bloody hard, as I'm not at all happy about the way the fic went. Where are my lovely boys of yore? It's partly fandom (moves on), me (moved on) and rps (they move on!! This doesn't happen with fps! You come back 10 years later and Spock is still Spock (unless he's rebooted...??!) and Achilles is still Achilles!!

I note 10-year-ago-Dom!icon in your comment... Nuff said.

Silver! You heard! I hope you're okay and it was a post of yours that made me think, I have to write this fic, this has been weighing on me, you need your gift wot you paid for! Although hearing about the Haiti charity funds fiasco these days, makes me rethink the elation of the initial impulse. Still, how can one not donate?

You made me revive this pairing, and easy it was not, woman!! Revisiting favourite pairings ten years later has proved to be an eye opener and somewhat of a challenge...

Haahhha.

But, Natashachen: have you read Dante's Inferno? Because what you say above... well, I don't want to spoiler you but put a good translation on your Christmas list (not one in verse; put a prose translation). Then get back to me about the snowball...

I read it, long ago, but don't remember any snowballs specifically. :-) I think it was a verse translation, though.

Hope you overcome your computer problems!

WHOO.

Something is in the air, because I just wrote lotrips fic too. And got Gloria to beta read it and everything. Bizarre - and awesome!

Eyebrow, that is so strange! And you had a real beta and everything.

How did you find it? I must say I found it a struggle and the final fic did not turn out as I wanted it to and the boys have changed.

Well, I wrote it because [livejournal.com profile] msilverstar's enthusiasm sucked me into signing up for the lotrips Secret Santa this year. And then after I signed up, I regretted it and thought I wouldn't be able to do it.

It was definitely hard because of the time that's passed - it's hard to deny that they are not all that close to each other these days, and not the fresh, chirpy little things they used to be. So where do you get the slash from in that? And if you want to set it now, then how do you explain them hooking up now, when they don't see each other much, rather than back then when they were all so close?

I can't say too much about mine because the final product is embargoed till 24 December (and even then it will be anonymous for a while). But how I worked it out was that I had my point of view character as one of the obscure older men that we don't really know very much about anyway, so I could just go ahead and wildly make things up about him. And then he runs into two old castmates and realises that they have secretly been having a relationship all these years. And this opens up new vistas of slashtastic possibility in the present...

Anyway, I think you will like it because of the Randy Old Man factor!

I think yours was successful and/but an uncomfortable read... more in my comment over there.
