I went to see Sandi Toksvig tonight, omg.

She was speaking as part of my town's LGBT month. The hall was packed. Everyone was smitten. I was very smitten.

And she sounds like just on radio!!!!!

I now must get tickets for the News Quiz. Must must must. Apparently the best bits of the show (she said) are the ones that get cut. Apparently the show is (she said) full of 'filth and libel'. Apparently Jeremy Harding, in response to the Fritzl thingy, did a Von Trapp family riff that was all cut and which I need to hear so if somebody was there and illicitly recorded it on their mobile phone, omg, send it here.

I am a total fangirl.

She is very short and very round. She wore a white shirt with the collar turned up and a pin-striped suit (the stripes did not at all succeed in de-rounding her) and a pink knitted sleeveless vest over the top.

She had the room eating out of her hand!

What, what, I'm not dwelling in radios and know her from old skits with her Cambridge scums uh buddies (Edmundsen, Fry, et al) and other TV things. Sounds like great night.

I only learned that she also appears on television tonight. I just know her from radio. Her voice smites me and now I am smitten. Well, was always smitten by Toksvig's voice. And her laugh is the most infectious thing on radio.

She was at Girton!! And did the first (and possibly only?) all-women Footlights show with, among others, Emma Thompson.

Yep! Her and Emma still look vaguely the same, well, and Jennifer Saunders. Today most know her from regular appearances in Qi though where she's very dry and sadly now I think of brushing my teeth with urine every time I go to the loo, damn her child rearing advice!

I don't know QI as I dont' watch television but her news quiz is just absolutely fantastic and Fridays 6.30 are a holy shrine of a timeslot for me!!

I used to love her on Whose Line is it Anyway? And then she went through a spate of hosting dodgy mid-afternoon quiz shows. I do like the News Quiz, though, when I remember to download the podcast (listen to the actual wireless? Is there a war on?)
