 Dear yuletide writer

I am so happy and honoured that you are writing for me.  I am lobelia321 on AO3.

I am happy to leave a lot of the writing choices and invention to you; to me, this is part of the surprise and excitement: to read another person's voice.  But, as it is 2021 and I'm not feeling too great about the world right now, here are some:

Do Not Wants:
Anything dark, anything that's not a happy ending (ambiguous and wistful is OK).  Character death. Character illness. Any mention of cancer or a pandemic.  Any mention of politics.  Rape. Violence. Homophobia.  Racism.  Transphobia. Non-consensual sex. Dubious consensual sex. Underage sex if one of the partners is overage (that is, I'm OK with two partners, both aged 17).  Sex involving any person aged below 16.

The next bit are things I love but don't feel you need to stick to them! :-). (And certainly no need to stuff all of them into one fic which would make that story rather bloated!)

I love: twisty plots; squee dialogue; delicious encounters; secrets that the reader knows but not the characters; mistaken identity; gender queerness; m/m; hinted at sex; explicit sex where each character expresses their own personality; textures and material details; the weather; deserts; beaches; cafés (coffee shop AU: yay); AUs involving offices; mature characters; hard men weeping; taciturn men who are feeling emotions despite themselves; absurdity; unresolved sexual tension (that gets resolved in the end); friends with benefits that then develop into something else; there's only one bed; 'Canadian shack'; "I can't get that kiss out of my mind"; "I'm not gay but..."; friends to lovers.

But: I love whatever!  Go for it, my dear yuletide writer.

Yours
