I have just bought myself my first pair of high-heel boots (and shoes, for that matter) in 24 years. This is partly due to the influence of Miss [livejournal.com profile] badgermonkey who is living proof that you can be clever and hi-heeled all at the same time (something which I have somehow been discounting these past few decades).

Now I need to learn to walk the walk. Because the balance is all different! I feel like Billy in drag.

P.S. The bootlets are beige. I have no beige clothes. I need to buy a wardrobe now. All this stems from being-back-at-work nervosity. As I was trying on the boots, I kept thinking: 'This'll make me look tall and impressive at the front of class.' Not if I topple over balanceless, of course...

Heels: use with caution

Not to derail your heel-ness, but...

I had a girlscout leader who arrived at the first meeting in a cast from her toes to her thigh. Apparently she'd broken her leg falling off her high heels.

I love high heels. I wear them as often as possible. Then again, I just barely make 5', so I need all the help I can get.

When I got my first pair of knee-high boots, I had the urge to go around randomly kicking things. It was a strange form of empowerment.

Hah! See, you will look tall and impressive. Also, everyone will think you v. elegant and well-dressed even when you aren't particularly either, such is the power of nice shoes. And beige! :looks down at beige jumper: Maybe you're turning into me.

Then again, I have just found out the first thing I have to teach my sixth formers is a module on Film Studies. Maybe I'm turning into you. Maybe we're morphing into each other from opposite ends of the country?

omg wtf we are the matrix, dude liek awsum

This is comforting to know. I can throw on any old dishrag in the morning and will still impress with my high heels.

Once I learn not to totter.

Whee! Welcome to the glamourous -if somewhat unstable- world of the high-heeled boot-wearer. And yes, that is the perfect excuse to get a new wardrobe!
