The sky is bright blue. It is very cold. The sun looks wrapped up in a big cloud, and it shines through that cloud very brightly. Snow flurries fly around; they don't weigh a lot so they don't fall straight down. They lie on car bonnets for a few seconds, then they melt. The snow combined with the bright blue sky is very strange. It seems to fall out of nothing, out of the blue. Daffodils are visible but their blossoms folded in upon themselves. Crocuses already wilted.

It is ten to five. The sun is low; the top third of trees is lit, the bottoms are in shade. They move about very slightly; there is not much wind.

On the weekend, I went to the woods. None of the trees had any foliage. Their branches rattled against each other in the wind, like a lot of bones.

I must just rec this trilogy of beauty. It consists of three stories, each written by a different, outstanding author. I printed them all out in one document and read them as one. This is the order they go in:

[livejournal.com profile] resonant8, Resolution

[livejournal.com profile] cesperanza Clarity

[livejournal.com profile] astolat (Shalott), Composition

This is a gorgeous trilogy, and it is so sexy it made me lie in bed unable to sleep! I was feeling hot inside and out.

One of the first paragraphs of Resonant's opener:
Rodney doubts the Ancients anticipated their surveillance equipment being put to quite this use. On the other hand, there was already a camera in Sheppard's quarters when they got here, so it's possible he's underestimating the kinkiness of the Ancients.

You can imagine where this is going, and it gets there beautifully, with surprising twists and kinks, and enough breathlessness and deliciousness to make me squee inwardly.

It is also phenomenally interesting to read from the writing point of view because it juxtaposes three different writers' styles with rare clarity. Speranza and Shalott pick up Resonant's characterisation and prose mood beautifully but each fic is stamped with its author's individuality. I would really be interested to read a DVD commentary on this one!

It's a funny thing: as each fic ended, I was going 'no, no' inside, anxious about where a new writer would take this. I loved it so much I didn't want it messed with. But each time I was convinced of the new narrative voice within a few sentences (in Shalott's case, within a few words).

I will re-read this and post a longer analysis, if time permits.

My old Photoshop version 5.0 (I also have 5.5, given to my dear [livejournal.com profile] lazlet) won't work with my new ibook, Mac OSX. It says I need the classic environment. I put in the installation disk and it says 'back up all files, install at your own risk'. I got scared.

What do I do? How do I get Photoshop onto my ibook?

Or will I keep having to run upstairs to the loft and the old imac to make icons? Because I am overwhelmed with [livejournal.com profile] sophrosyne31's icon bouny.

My fic cup runneth over. [livejournal.com profile] badgermonkey has written a Coldplay snippet. Chris/Jon.

I am in popslash heaven.
