I am amazed and excited to be in a fandom that makes vids. Also, I am amazed and excited at owning the technology that can view said vids!
I have three fantastic SGA vids downloaded on my hard drive and as soon as I find their urls I will rec them but for now, two questions:
1) Any good vids out there that you want to rec?
2) How, um, does one make a vid? (slippery, slippery)

Date: 2006-05-25 07:47 pm (UTC)To make a vid, you need a program like Adobe Premiere or Windows Movie Maker (WMM is easiest and tends to come with XP anyway - most people don't even realise that they could have been making their own vids all along :) More than happy to issue further tips/instructions if you're keen to do your own thing at any stage?
Macs also have basic video editing software installed if that's your flavour of technology, but I can't remember what it's called

Date: 2006-05-25 09:36 pm (UTC)what's the um, no for? no you don't have the 'stress' vid? or no you don't want to import clips from your camcorder?
I'm afraid I'm a pc-gal, and cannot be of much help. I have just had a quick go on iMovieMaker on the Mac here, and it's telling me I can't import an avi file more than 9 minutes long, which is clearly bunkum. *flails about cluelessly* So sorry!
there are a couple of good vidding comms that may help answer your questions though:

Date: 2006-05-26 11:17 am (UTC)(1) Now you've turned me onto SGA (yes, you!), where do I go to read good fic? Any authors or comm recs would be great. I've read almost nothing, beyond having googled something that turned out to be a bondage horror full of dangling qualifiers.
(2) I read recently, perhaps on your journal, perhaps not, a German compound noun which translated roughly as 'a desire to communicate' - and as I tend to collect German compound nouns which don't have snappy English equivalents and programme my mobile phone with them (yes, I use 'Weltanschaung' and 'Weltschmerz' in text messages. Not often, mind you...), I'd love to be reminded of this one.
Ooh, and flicking back through your recent entries - I adored Cloud Atlas too. It's the only one of his novels I've read, and my beloved and I ended up reading it simultaneously in cafes in Italy on our Summer Holiday for Post-Flat-Purchase Convalescents last summer. The reviews of Black Swan Green seem rather dubious, though.

Date: 2006-05-26 12:11 pm (UTC)Hm, German compound for desire to communicate... I could just coin one, of course. Desire would be 'Wunsch' but communicate? Mitteilungswunsch, perhaps??
SGA recs: find them on my del.icio.us. My top three:

Happy hunting and reading and happy being seduced!!!
Once your appetite is whetted, ask again and I shall point you to songvideos, episodes with man-on-man kissing (yes!) and a clip from a film that features the actor who plays Rodney McKay snogging another man in a very long and rather swoonsome totally man-on-man gay kiss. Plus you get to see his bottom (see icon = McKay actor's bum).
