I am amazed and excited to be in a fandom that makes vids. Also, I am amazed and excited at owning the technology that can view said vids!

I have three fantastic SGA vids downloaded on my hard drive and as soon as I find their urls I will rec them but for now, two questions:

1) Any good vids out there that you want to rec?

2) How, um, does one make a vid? (slippery, slippery)

Two questions only you can answer -

(1) Now you've turned me onto SGA (yes, you!), where do I go to read good fic? Any authors or comm recs would be great. I've read almost nothing, beyond having googled something that turned out to be a bondage horror full of dangling qualifiers.

(2) I read recently, perhaps on your journal, perhaps not, a German compound noun which translated roughly as 'a desire to communicate' - and as I tend to collect German compound nouns which don't have snappy English equivalents and programme my mobile phone with them (yes, I use 'Weltanschaung' and 'Weltschmerz' in text messages. Not often, mind you...), I'd love to be reminded of this one.

Ooh, and flicking back through your recent entries - I adored Cloud Atlas too. It's the only one of his novels I've read, and my beloved and I ended up reading it simultaneously in cafes in Italy on our Summer Holiday for Post-Flat-Purchase Convalescents last summer. The reviews of Black Swan Green seem rather dubious, though.

I haven't read any Black Swan Green riviews; I don't read reviews of new novels I haven't yet read; I barely glance at the blurb: I wish to be spoiler free! But once I've finished I may want to devour reviews! Do you remember where you saw them? I am too in love with David Mitchell to be objective, though; I love even his flaws. In a way, I love especially his flaws because that makes him loom as less of a demi-god.

Hm, German compound for desire to communicate... I could just coin one, of course. Desire would be 'Wunsch' but communicate? Mitteilungswunsch, perhaps??

SGA recs: find them on my del.icio.us. My top three:

Happy hunting and reading and happy being seduced!!!

Once your appetite is whetted, ask again and I shall point you to songvideos, episodes with man-on-man kissing (yes!) and a clip from a film that features the actor who plays Rodney McKay snogging another man in a very long and rather swoonsome totally man-on-man gay kiss. Plus you get to see his bottom (see icon = McKay actor's bum).

The comm to join is [livejournal.com profile] sga_noticeboard. It's a fabulous catch-all.

So nice to hear from you!!

Could be 'redefreudig' or 'redelustig' (Redelust = noun) if you want to put emphasis on the 'talking' part or 'kontaktfreudig' (outgoing) or 'kontaktfaehig' (ability to communicate well) if you want to highlight the social interaction part.

Redelust! How I love that word. And it fits Rodney McKay to a tee!!

Another fic has been added to my top fics of all time (and it also happens to be SGA) so in the interests of completeness and swooniness:

Intersections by [livejournal.com profile] kaneko. God but it is gorgeous and good and fantastically written. It has lists and it has equations.

I've already read it from your rec, and entirely enjoyed it. Though I was less in love with the equations (which, as a survivor of remedial maths, filled me with vague alarm) than the tent-bound sexiness, and the compulsive fruit-devouring. I get very tetchy if breakfast doesn't feature a banana.

I have a great fear of maths and loating of memories of maths homework (I once ripped apart a one-inch thick textbook in rage) but maybe this is why I am entranced by the way that equations are used in this fic; how this can be a language that is very comfortable for some (the characters) and it is often glossed over in SGA fic (by me, for one, *g*) and I was impressed how this fic took it and used it. But the tent... I mean, I can't even begin to swoon enough about the tent. I have read the tent scene three times by now (it has an equation smack bang in the middle of it! I love how it moves from equation to Rodney's thigh).

Oh, and drosophilous Rodney... :-) I am so happy you liked this! With no canon knowledge, too. *g*
