Today, Tiger won the 135th Open Golf Championship at Hoylake in Liverpool. This is the first major he's won since his dad died. He dedicated this trophy to his father. (Just like Cristiano Ronaldo dedicated his penalty against England to his dead father.)

Tiger's one cool cookie and he walked round those links with icy concentration. But then he won. And the tears flowed.

I just can't resist a weeping athlete. (If, um, athlete's the right word in this case.)

Tiger: "Stevie (Williams) [caddy] said to me as we were coming up the last, 'this one is for dad.' And then, after the putt, all these emotions just poured out of me. They have been locked in there. I just miss my dad so much. I wish he could have been here to witness this.

And happy!

And he even has a wag! This is his wife, Elin Woods. Quelle babe.

I find golf tremendously boring, except when Woods is playing. And I have to give props to a man who is unashamed to cry, even when he knows that so many people are watching him.

Golf is boring but strangely, I can watch it for hours. Perhaps because it is so soothing in a world of stress. It's like a gardening programme, only better because it has these mild doses of drama in there that get the golfing pundits all excited.

Oh, a very classy wag. Respect!

Also wasn't Tiger Woods this thin teenager just a few months ago? When did he grow up? Damn, time is really flying.

I'm so not into golf but I just can't resist crying men and men comforting them... ;)

I know, I was shocked! He's 30 and has sort of thickened around the waist and the cheeks!

When men cry they always seem to have some other man right near them for comforting purposes. 'tis a law of nature.

Not a little boy anymore.

And it really seems to be. Also it tends to be a father figure. The caddy, Scolari...

These middle-aged chaps, they just can't wait to get their paws on the young flesh. And the young flesh seems to need to lean on the patriarchal figures.

Maybe it's just me and my mind is getting more twistet by the minute (It's the heat, really!) but this is somehow reminding me of the Old Greek guys. I mean, older man showing younger man/boy the ropes and everything. And I'm sure at least that physio *wants* to have sex with little Cristiano...
