So, is anybody here still even reading my LiveJournal? Is there a point in posting into the eerie nothingness?
No, I would really like to know. My LJ experience seems to have changed as of recently, and I'm wondering is it just a glitch, or a natural evolution, or is it due to everyone having moved to Dreamwidth and not reading LJ any longer? So people have forgotten I exist??
Argh, and are you even posting / crossposting to LJ any longer? Because a lot of you I never see now!
Also, how long does it take to rebuild one's Friends list on Dreamwidth? And is it worth the bother?

Date: 2009-06-04 10:43 pm (UTC)You must have a very different flist to me, because mine barely seems to have changed at all! Unless I just didn't notice. That's a distinct possibility.

Date: 2009-06-04 11:30 pm (UTC)My flists are different in each place. My DW flist consists of those friends who are directing comments there, or who have declared their intent to make it their primary journal, or who are reading me there, or who I didn't know on LJ.

Date: 2009-06-08 07:48 pm (UTC)The thing about the flists being different is both interesting to me (why? ooh, new social set-ups) and daunting (o god, can I be bothered to get used to a whole new thing?).

Date: 2009-06-04 11:47 pm (UTC)The DW vs. LJ split has been interesting. A very specific segment of my flist took off over there, and they seem to be settling in and happy there. This is a group that was heavily into SGA, are often active in OTW, and I know that they're either friends of each other, or their flists overlap quite a bit. As I said, they're a distinct subsection of my flist. They like DW.
Most of my flist is not there at all in terms of having conversations there, although many (like me) have set up accounts over there. I looked over my DW reading list yesterday, and noticed that very, very few of the posts there had comments. Most of the comments and discussion are still on LJ, for the people I interact with.
So DW has just resulted in the further splintering of my flists, since I have a number of people who are mostly over on IJ. So far, I don't see any big advantage to DW having come along (in terms of my personal experience, I mean). That would change, however, if they crack the coding problem with not being able to read locked or filtered posts on an RSS feed. If and when they pull that off, I can set up feeds for my LJ and IJ friends, and read them all on DW. That would be a good thing, and I predict that it would push more of my flist to actually be present on DW.

Date: 2009-06-05 04:10 am (UTC)Rebuilding flist seems to go quick -- but one of the good things of DW is that is not excluding the use of LJ -- since one can cross post or comment with open ID.

Date: 2009-06-05 07:06 am (UTC)A LOT less enchanted with Cristiano Ronaldo nowadays, however. Thinking of transferring my fickle allegiance to Lionel Messi, whose floating-header in the CL final won my heart (for now).

Date: 2009-06-08 07:56 pm (UTC)Cristiano has lost much charm since he turned 21 and has stopped blubbering. I absolutely agree. We need young flesh.

Date: 2009-06-05 12:25 pm (UTC)Re: DW, I'm only beginning to explore, and will crosspost until further notice - if I *do* migrate, it won't be discretely! How are you using DW?
(no subject)
Date: 2009-06-08 07:59 pm (UTC)I've not seen the Star Trek film but from what I hear canon is not needed for creating the fanon. I've already written an rps ficlet. Research took 75 seconds. But I've not read any fanon, either, so I can talk. But: there also doesn't seem to be any rps so the fanon is up for grabs! Go for it!!
When you said you would not migrate discretely, did you mean discreetly or did you mean you would not migrate in little pieces? *as pedantic as ever*
I am using DW in the sense that I have a paid account and remember its existence every two weeks. But I never go there.
