Oh people, people: I'm here but have been off-line somewhat. I do apologise for keeping everyone waiting on replies-to-comments but sometimes rl has to be taken care of. (And I had some shitty news from my cesspit place of employment so needed to steel myself for that.) But there's an interesting how to write a novel site, care of the Telegraph (oddly) that I will soon rec plus my wraith fic to be posted sometime next week plus my book which I have to finish now, have to have to; it is my one-way ticket out of the hell of my present institution.

Plus it's holidays and there are activities to be undertaken with t'sons. :-)

Look! My default icon!! It's still me in there, appearances to the contrary notwithstanding...! :-)

Today, Tiger won the 135th Open Golf Championship at Hoylake in Liverpool. This is the first major he's won since his dad died. He dedicated this trophy to his father. (Just like Cristiano Ronaldo dedicated his penalty against England to his dead father.)

Tiger's one cool cookie and he walked round those links with icy concentration. But then he won. And the tears flowed.

I just can't resist a weeping athlete. (If, um, athlete's the right word in this case.)

Tiger: "Stevie (Williams) [caddy] said to me as we were coming up the last, 'this one is for dad.' And then, after the putt, all these emotions just poured out of me. They have been locked in there. I just miss my dad so much. I wish he could have been here to witness this.

Today I felt a God-fic coming on. It featured Kaká, C.Ronaldo, a monastery, the Vow of Silence and shades of Umberto.

Somebody, rescue me, quick.

On the other hand, insane as it sounds, it would be an interesting challenge to write a fic involving religious faith. I haven't read any such. It would be an ethical challenge. And could be aesthetically rewarding.

Also: canon!!

And finally: we art historians love Catholicism.
